1. To bring together on a common
platform the Panchayati Raj Institutions in the country
(at the village, block and district levels) so that
they may:
a.
Ddraw strength from thorough mutual association
and become effective instruments of democracy and
national development;
b. Take counseling together as to
how to tackle common problems and advance towards
common goals;
c. Profit from one another’s
experience; and
d. Be able to develop a national
outlook rather than become parochial by remaining
isolated from one another.
e. Make them aware of their rights
& responsibilities
f. Improve the standard of living
of the rural people.
2. To Mobilize
opinion with regard to Panchayati Raj so that there
is greater public participation in the process of
self-governance.
3. To promote the spirit of community,
self-help, mutual-aid, and socio-economic development
among the village folks.
4. To inculcate in the Panchayati
Raj personnel, a proper sense of responsibility towards
the community as a whole, and particularly towards
its economically and socially weaker sections.
5. To undertake training of the related
personnel
a.
To conduct and establish training schools
and institutes
b. To co-operate with the Central
and State Governments, educational institutions and
Non-governmental voluntary organizationsin achieving
the above objective.
6. To carry
on the study and research in subjects related to Panchayati
Raj, in particular, and rural life and its problems
in general.
7. To conduct surveys, evaluation
of projects, field investigations, etc.
8. To prepare and publish books,
pamphlets, periodicals, papers etc.
9. To do everything else that might
be necessary for achieving these objectives.
